     My name is Dorothy Valcárcel. You probably don’t know me.  I have never had my face on Time Magazine or modeled for Vogue.  I am not some famous politician or wealthy socialite.

     I am just a regular gal from Arizona. Someone who may be a lot like you.  I am Jimmy & Ellen’s daughter. Sheryl’s sister. Jim’s wife. And Aimee and Bethanie’s proud aunt.

     So far, in my lifetime, I have been someone’s friend, roommate and girlfriend. I’ve been happy and sad, unemployed and overworked, loved and rejected. I’ve been a student and a teacher. A patient and a nurse. An employee and an employer.

     During the last twenty years, my work with non-profit organizations around the world has taken me into ghettos, orphanages, domestic abuse shelters, and food kitchens. And I have been privileged to meet people who have the busiest hands and biggest hearts. People who say “Let me help.”

     As I have personally witnessed the consequences of the worst side of love, I have also come to realize that Jesus’ love always wins. It may be battered and bruised – but His love will prevail.

     This is what my book, When a Woman Meets Jesus is all about. Every chapter focuses on the way love triumphs over emptiness, rejection, grief, loneliness, and many other pesky problems that plague our lives and destroy our happiness.

     So please join me, my friend, on the road to fulfillment, purpose and love. It is a road that will carry us through common territory. Who knows, our paths may have already crossed as we’ve struggled with the challenges that have up-ended our well-laid plans or turned our world upside down.

     But here our lives finally intersect. And someone special wants to join our journey by transforming us with His love.
